Who We Are

The Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce is the dedicated champion for our more than 1,900 business members and their employees. The Chamber’s volunteer leadership and staff marshal the organization’s resources to advance a competitive business environment that gives members a distinct advantage in achieving business objectives.

Below you will find five focus areas and their critical strategic priorities that your Chamber will be advancing to transform our metro area in 2015.

Small Business

Meet the critical needs of small businesses and entrepreneurs in the Wichita region.

Strategic Priorities
Declare Wichita “Open for Business” by working with local government to remove barriers for development and creating a business friendly environment.

Collaborate with business organizations and small business service providers to support entrepreneurship and innovation in the Wichita region.

Job Creation

Grow the Wichita regional economy by helping existing and new employers grow quality primary jobs and capital investment.

Strategic Priorities
Support the Leadership Council and GWEDC on initiatives to improve Wichita’s competitiveness for primary jobs.

Strengthen private/public partnerships on a regional basis, including Wichita State University’s Innovation Campus and the Blueprint for Regional Economic Growth.

Engage the broader community in a discussion about economic development issues and the future of our regional economy.

Business Advocacy

Achieve a public policy agenda for business and the community at the local, state and federal level.

Strategic Priorities
Develop a new regional legislative identity and agenda to promote the economic impact of the region on the entire state of Kansas.

Identify and support business-friendly candidates for elected office, starting with 2015 City Council and mayoral races.


Workforce Development/Education

Develop, attract and retain a well-educated and trained workforce for the Wichita region by addressing current needs and future trends.

Strategic Priorities
Convene industry leaders, educational institutions and workforce development advocates to address critical current issues impacting the availability of a trained workforce.

Strengthen the region’s ability to attract, engage and retain young and diverse talent.

Downtown/Quality of Place

Increase awareness and recognition that quality of place, beginning with a vibrant downtown, is critical to the entire region’s identity and success.

Strategic Priorities
Support and promote compelling messages that recognize the connection between downtown development and the regional economy.

Support catalytic investments downtown to maximize the central business district’s potential.
