Elizabeth received a BA in Sociology from Wichita State University and has completed advanced study in public administration at WSU.
She is retired from a career in public service. Her most recent job was that of Executive Director of Wichita Independent Neighborhoods, Inc. In that capacity, and as a part of the Neighborhood Initiative, she joined with community police officers to organize over 40 neighborhood associations, which in turn work to strengthen their neighborhoods.
In her extensive volunteer experience in efforts to solve problems and create a better Wichita, she served on the Train Traffic Mitigation Task Force; Community Corrections Advisory Board; Metropolitan Area Planning Commission (MAPC); City Manager’s Air Quality Improvement Task Force; and the Visioneering Regional Recreation Leadership Team.
Elizabeth feels that to be a dynamic, competitive city, to achieve our economic goals, city leaders need to communicate—and listen to—citizens from all across the spectrum. This sense of teamwork makes us stronger and we can create a better future for our city together.
She and her husband, Darrel, an engineer at Spirit AeroSystems, have five children and 11 grandchildren.
