The Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Council creates a strong partnership between the business community and our military partners through strategic awareness, support and collaborative initiatives, ensuring our region remains a vital and trusted ally to the defense sector. This council was created with a clear mission: To connect, support and empower those who serve - and those who stand beside them.
Why It Matters
McConnell Air Force Base is a cornerstone of our regional economy and national security. With more than $1 billion in annual economic impact and over 3,500 Airmen, McConnell plays a critical role in defense operations across the globe. These service members aren't just stationed here - they’re our neighbors, our friends and an integral part of the Wichita community.
Our Goals
The Military Affairs Council is committed to strengthening the bond between the military, our business community and the broader region. Through this initiative, we will:
- Host events to build stronger connections between McConnell leadership and local businesses.
- Bridge workforce gaps by connecting employers with skilled, dedicated talent - including military spouses, Guardsmen, Reservists and transitioning service members.
- Advocate at all levels of government for improved childcare access, family support and quality-of-life initiatives that help military families not just serve, but thrive in Wichita.
