Please tell us a little bit about your company.
Coonrod & Associates Construction Co., Inc. was founded in 1984 by Randy Coonrod. We have been building on a tradition of excellence and integrity throughout the Midwest. We operate as construction manager, design-build contractor and general contractor. Our experience includes schools, medical facilities, sports complexes, hospitals, industrial facilities, warehouses and much more. Our work ranges in size from $500,000 to $50,000,000.

Why did you join the Chamber and what do you find most valuable about Chamber membership?
We would like to get involved with our community more than we already are. It gives us the opportunity to meet with many other local business owners, network with potential clients and strategize with those of similar values.

What is the best thing about working with businesses in the Wichita area?
We’ve been in Wichita for over 35 years and we love where we work and live. Wichita is home to hard working, intelligent people that aren’t afraid to tackle the future head on.

Describe a recent success story.
We recently received an award of honor from Kan-Struct on the Haysville High School, Tri-City Day School, recognizing our collaboration with the owner and architect. Not only does it take a dedicated, experienced team, but quality at a lower cost is key to successful projects.

To what do you attribute your success?
Teamwork. Honesty. Integrity. It’s what we’ve lived by for over 35 years and what we’ll continue to live by for the next 35.

Do you have an upcoming event that might interest our members?
We will be celebrating our 35th anniversary all year. Most people don’t realize the extent of projects we’ve built and how comprehensive our services are. We welcome the opportunity to meet with anybody interested in any size of commercial and industrial construction project and let us show you that Teamwork, Honesty and Integrity isn’t just a catch phrase.

What is your favorite Chamber event, program, or service and why?
We truly enjoy the small business events and meeting people from all varieties of businesses.

What is something people may not know about you or your organization?
The Coonrod family has been in construction since the early 1900s, running three generations deep. We hope to continue the legacy for generations to come.

What has Chamber membership brought to you and your organization?
A network of businesses to connect with and not only share business thoughts and ideas but the love of being a Wichita supporter.

Where do you see your organization in five years?
We hope to be growing in size but still maintain the close relationships with each of our clients and providing the highest of quality services at an economical price.

What about your organization are you most passionate?
I love being a part of the construction process, whether it be from the ground up or a remodel. I love handing over a great finished product to the client and seeing them enjoy their new facility.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how strongly would you recommend Chamber membership to a colleague?
10 of course! The Chamber is there for people and businesses who care about Wichita. If Wichita doesn’t grow and prosper, neither do the members. Helping support that cause is extremely beneficial to all.

Favorite Ted Talk?
Tedx: “Do what you like, like what you do" by Bert Jacobs. I love his optimistic approach to life. In such a negative world, it’s nice to see a business sell positivity. At the same time, you have to be a realist and see what the writing on the wall is but that doesn’t mean you should ever not be optimistic.

Is your company involved in any community/civic activities?
Our company supports many activities in our area and we are happy to be a part of these great organizations. We sponsor several groups and nonprofits such as the Kansas Junior Livestock Association, the Greater Wichita YMCA and the Great Plains Nature Center, just to name a few.
