Reopening Readiness

Posted by: Angie Prather on Monday, May 11, 2020

Some of our members have reopened or are in the process of expanding their services. Others are still working on their reopening plans. All are concerned about taking the necessary precautions to stay open once they have reopened.

The Chamber's Wichita Resource Center now has a section devoted to Re-igniting the Economy. One of the areas we continually update is a section devoted to examples of business plans for returning to work.

Many area businesses are also searching for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the form of masks, hand sanitizer, face shields, gloves and gowns. As part of the Pandemic Response Task Force and the PPE Biz Working Group, the Chamber has been working with the team at Sedgwick County and the City of Wichita as well as numerous other community partners (REAP, Visit Wichita, Wichita Community Foundation, Nonprofit Chamber of Service, Wichita Independent Business Association, Workforce Alliance and United Way) to research and compile lists of suppliers for these items with contact information. The lists are updated daily as new suppliers are added, so be sure to continue to check the Wichita Resource Center for the most updated information.

We've also compiled additional resources with helpful guidelines and legal advice. Among those webinar recordings is a discussion we recently heled with Troy Wayman of City Wide Maintenance of Wichita about how to reopen and stay open. Wayman shares advice about how to ensure that you're protecting your employees, customers and clients during the COVID-19 pandemic. He explains the difference between disinfecting and cleaning as well as the important procedures you need to undertake if someone in your building has been confirmed with COVID-19.

Other Chamber members who can provide the enhanced cleaning and/or disinfection services or products for your organization may need can be found in the Chamber's membership directory listing. Some of those are listed here:
