Chairman's Update

Since Gary Plummer’s departure in the spring, we have had the opportunity to have discussions with the Chamber Board of Directors and other stakeholders about the Chamber’s important role and place in our community. Part of this discussion has included the amount of coordination, and sometimes overlap, we have with Greater Wichita Partnership. This led us to look at other communities, many of which we have visited on our City-to-City Leadership trips, to see how their civic organizations aligned. With this information, it made sense for us to pursue a discussion about a greater alignment and affiliation with the Partnership, because ultimately, we all want to seek prosperity for our region.

In the coming weeks, Evan Rosell, Executive Vice President of Operations for the Partnership, will be working side-by-side with Scott Schwindaman, our interim President and CEO, and the Chamber staff to get a better understanding of our organization. At the same time, we will begin a search for a new Executive Director for the Chamber that will be charged with working with the Partnership to create aligned strategic plans.

We are excited about the opportunities and look forward to continuing our work to champion our members and provide leadership in the community.
