The Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the prestigious Keeper of the Plains award that is presented annually in honor of an outstanding architectural achievement.
The Keeper of the Plains award committee considers aesthetic quality, degree of improvement, visibility, and maintenance when determining a winner. The award will be presented at the Chamber’s Honors Night banquet in spring 2022. To nominate a project, complete this form by 4 p.m. on November 12, 2021.
Criteria for Nomination
- Construction must have been completed between January 1, 2018 and July 1, 2021.
- Projects must be within the bounds of Sedgwick County, but cannot be public tax-supported.
- There are no limits on the physical or monetary size of the project.
- The recipient must be a member of the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Criteria for Award Recipients
- Aesthetic Quality – the project is visually appealing (including landscaping and design).
- Degree of Improvement – the project substantially improved the physical environment
- Visibility – the project is clearly visible to the general public and easily seen by visitors.
- Maintenance – the project is continuously well-kept, nearly litter-free, painted, mowed or clipped, as appropriate.
Evaluation and Selection
- Each project is reviewed by the Keeper of the Plains committee. If needed, experts such as architects, planners, landscape architects and other design professionals will be consulted for guidance in determining the winner.
- The video cost associated with this honor will be the honoree’s responsibility.
