Posted by: Tessa Brungardt on Wednesday, February 9, 2022

The Honors Night committee and Chamber staff are thrilled to announce this year's Honors Night recipients. Honors Night is a nearly 60 year tradition that recognizes some of our community’s finest people and organizations. We will recognize this year's honorees at our annual celebration on Thursday, April 21. The event is presented by Wilson Building Maintenance Inc.

Dr. Pat Do, Orthopedic Surgeon and the founder of Mid America Orthopedics, is the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce’s 2022 Uncommon Citizen. Established in 1974, the Uncommon Citizen is the Chamber’s most prestigious individual award. It recognizes those who, by their individual efforts year after year, have made uncommon contributions to the people and institutions of Wichita and the surrounding area.

The 2022 Exceptional Young Leader is Andrea Hattan, owner of The Hive. Established in 2017, the award provides premiere recognition of extraordinary young talent who have a history of demonstrated leadership within their job and philanthropic involvement.

In addition to these individual honors, the following businesses and organizations who will also be honored:

  • Spirit of Wichita recipient is IMA, Inc.
  • Over the Years recipient is Greteman Group
  • Keeper of the Plains recipient is Fidelity Bank RISE Car Park

The Chamber is also particularly excited to be honoring Riverfront Stadium with the Ad Astra award. This award is given as opportunities arise and this will only be the fourth time it has been awarded. Riverfront Stadium will join Exploration Place, INTRUST Bank Arena and Wichita Eisenhower National Airport.

“When selecting this year’s group of honorees, the Honors Night committee felt strongly about Riverfront Stadium. The stadium brings new energy to downtown, enhances our civic pride, and creates even more opportunities for community building. The impact we’ve seen, and we know will continue to see, is worthy of this special recognition,” said Jackie Gearhart, UMB Bank, Honors Night committee chair.

A strong work ethic has driven Dr. Do’s successes through completing his medical degree at the University of Missouri Kansas City, founding MAO in 2000, becoming a Scooter’s Coffee franchisee with five locations, advising a Private Equity Company, being a member of Newman University’s board of trustees, serving on the executive committee for Young President’s Organization of Kansas, and through his numerous, annual charitable contributions in the Wichita community.

Dr. Do donates his time as the featured chef of dinners for charity groups such as the Rainbows United, Wichita Children’s Home, The Lord’s Diner, Newman University, and Butler Community College. Dr. Do was also a member of the Board of Directors for Butler Community College's Foundation and is a past board member of the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce.

As part of Dr. Do’s commitment to philanthropy, he and his wife, Sylvia, believe providing scholarships can improve someone’s life through education. The Do’s have funded multiple scholarships across a broad spectrum of focuses to a variety of schools in our area.

“I know and respect many of the people who have been recognized as the Chamber’s Uncommon Citizen. To be selected this year is humbling, unexpected and quite the ‘wow!’, said Do. “Honors Night truly represents the best of our community, and I can’t wait to celebrate with this year’s honorees.”

The Hive is a women-focused coworking space in the iconic Orpheum downtown. Andrea’s mission is to empower women who run businesses to show up authentically by providing connections, support, and space to belong.

Andrea is a regular speaker and panelist at events the caliber of TEDx. She's also an Innovation and Enterprise Award winner in the Startup category.
