Tell us about your business.

Nonprofit GO mentors and educates nonprofit organizations to help them achieve sustainability, build capacity and enhance their quality of community services. Nonprofit GO provides business services like grant writing, accounting, nonprofit startup consultation and fiscal sponsorship on an affordable, subsidized fee schedule. Nonprofit GO serves 75 organizations and clients in 10 states.

Describe your company's most recent success.

During 2021, Nonprofit GO was instrumental in helping organizations receive more than $6,000,000 in grant funding.

What do you attribute to your company's success?

I have been working in nonprofit organizations for 30 years. I also have an accounting background. That mix works well in helping nonprofit organizations understand they are a business, and that they need to function like one. There is also a huge need in Wichita for nonprofit services and resources. We have only scratched the surface of the work to be done.

What aspect of your organization are you most passionate about?

I'm passionate about nonprofit work in general and I want to see Wichita's nonprofit community grow and thrive. There are numerous organizations in Wichita that are doing great things, and many are under the radar. I am constantly amazed when I learn about an organization that I never knew existed. Nonprofit GO can help them develop and grow.

What differentiates your business from your competitors?

Many nonprofit resources refer an organization to another agency for services. Nonprofit GO actually works hands-on and performs these services. Our staff will do your accounting work, setup your QuickBooks and write your grant applications. Nonprofit GO also provides fiscal sponsorship for those just starting out, which can be difficult to find locally.

What is the best thing about doing business in Wichita?

I tell this story often... From the time I was 14 years old, I always planned to leave Wichita. The timing was never right with my job, aging parents, etc. Now, I don't want to live anywhere else. The cost of living is low, and with today's technology, I can work anywhere in the United States. It's an exciting time to be in Wichita, with the downtown area re-developing. Imagine what it will be in a few years. Wichita is fabulous place to do business. There are a lot of opportunities and a true community environment. People are nice here.

What is your favorite business app and why?

I was recently introduced to Knack through Moonbase Labs, and it is amazing. There is so much data tracking and reporting with grant writing. That can be difficult to organize. Moonbase Labs created a specific application just for Nonprofit GO to track grants and funding opportunities. Now, I spend less time organizing data and more time performing work for clients.
