The Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce has appointed Jason Cox as the 2024 Board Chair.
Cox presided over the Chamber’s first Board of Directors meeting of 2024 this week. Chamber Board Chair appointments are annual terms from January 1 to December 31.
“Jason’s tenure as Board Chair comes at a crucial time for the Wichita business community. His leadership will bring fresh perspectives and strategic insights to address the challenges and opportunities the community faces,” said John Rolfe, President & CEO of the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce. “His passion for the community and business acumen make him a valuable asset to the organization.”
As Board Chair, Cox will play a pivotal role in guiding Chamber initiatives and the organization’s new three-year strategic plan. His dedication to innovation and community engagement aligns seamlessly with the Chamber's mission to create a dynamic business environment that enhances the quality of life for all residents.
"Wichita is a city with tremendous potential, and I am excited to work alongside fellow board members, Chamber staff and the community to drive economic growth and continue to make Wichita a place people want to be,” Cox said. “Together, we will continue to build a vibrant community that benefits everyone."
Cox is President of Cox Machine, a third-generation manufacturing company started by his grandfather in 1954. Headquartered in Wichita, Cox Machine specializes in manufacturing precision parts, components and assemblies for aerospace, deep space and semiconductor industries. He joined Cox Machine in 2003 as Production Manager. He moved up to Chief Technical Officer before becoming President in 2016. Cox has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Kansas State University.
“In manufacturing, we talk a lot about continuous improvement. I think we should always continue to improve the Chamber’s core offerings. Networking, advocacy and improving the quality of life for businesses and the talent who work here - this is what the Chamber does well,” Cox said. “There’s also progress to be made on riverfront transformation, homelessness and building our workforce throughout the region.”
Cox joined the Chamber Board in 2016 and served on the Chamber’s Government Relations Committee. Outside of the Chamber, Cox has served as Chair for Exploration Place and Young Presidents’ Organization and was a member of the Technical Education Authority.
“I’ve always felt the Chamber is the place for business leaders to gather and address problems together,” Cox said. “If you are facing a specific challenge in your business, it’s likely another Chamber member is facing the same challenge or has faced it before. We can all be stronger by sharing these experiences.”
