Posted by: Scott Elpers on Thursday, January 29, 2026

The Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce has named Chief Strategy and Operations Officer Brecken Morel as Interim President and CEO, ensuring continuity of leadership and day-to-day operations as the Chamber advances its mission for the Wichita region. Morel has served as the Chamber’s Chief Strategy and Operations Officer since November 2025, overseeing internal operations, strategic initiatives and organizational effectiveness.

Morel brings extensive experience across project and change management, sales, operations and finance, with a strong focus on execution and organizational alignment. Most recently, she served as Change Management and Communications Leader at Cargill, guiding teams through complex change and operational transitions. Prior to that, she held several leadership roles with Hyatt and Starwood Hotels, where she developed a track record of strengthening operations, improving effectiveness and supporting strategic growth.

“I am honored and excited to step into this role and continue serving Wichita’s business community at a new capacity,” said Morel. “Our focus remains clear. We will continue to advocate for policies that support economic growth, strengthen our talent pipeline and ensure a strong business environment for our members and the region.”

The Chamber’s Board of Directors appointed Morel to the interim role while it evaluates long term leadership needs aligned with the organization’s strategic priorities. Walter Berry, a well-respected Wichita businessman and former Chamber Board Chair, will serve as Executive in Residence for the Chamber, providing strategic oversight and consultation.

“Brecken is a proven leader with a deep understanding of the Chamber’s operations and strategic direction,” said Gabe Schlickau, 2026 Chair of the Chamber’s Board of Directors. “Her leadership ensures stability and continued progress as the Chamber moves forward.”

The Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce remains committed to driving the region’s prosperity through advocacy, talent development and strong business initiatives while continuing to serve as the leading voice for business in the Wichita region.
