Vote Yes for the Sales Tax on March 3

Posted by: Scott Elpers on Thursday, February 26, 2026

On March 3, Wichita voters will decide whether to approve a temporary 1% sales tax to fund targeted investments in public safety, housing and homelessness services, Century II and Convention Center, property tax relief and a downtown performing arts center.

Last month, the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors unanimously voted to support this proposal. These issues come straight from our members and directly reflect the Chamber’s state and local policy priorities

We believe this measure represents a strategic investment in Wichita’s long-term economic strength and competitiveness.

As business leaders, we understand that taxes matter. Every dollar counts. That is exactly why this proposal deserves serious consideration. It is structured as a temporary seven-year investment with clear funding priorities and guardrails approved by the City Council. It addresses issues that directly impact employers and the workforce, including public safety, quality of place, housing availability and property tax relief.

Strong businesses depend on a strong community.

The Chamber has long advocated for policies that create opportunity and fuel growth. We believe this proposal aligns with that mission.

We encourage you to vote yes on March 3. The future of our city depends on thoughtful participation from the business community.
