Manager of Member Relations

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for developing and successfully implementing a comprehensive member retention and sales support program to help achieve the Membership & Engagement department goals. This will include a member contact program to retain dues investment by continually conveying the value of Chamber membership.  Some recruitment of new members may be requested. 

  • Work closely with Vice President, Membership & Engagement and the Director, Membership Development, to create and implement a comprehensive and effective retention and sales support program for all members.   
  • Assist the Director of Investor Relations and Manager of Engagement with support to include, but not be limited to:
    • Identify and develop non-dues support for Chamber initiatives in the form of sponsorships and direct program investment.
    • Effectively communicate the Chamber’s strategic impact and guide members to realize maximum member benefits.
  • Committee Management
    • Manage activities of the membership engagement and retention volunteer committee.
    • Facilitate committee communications and meetings.
  • Attend all relevant Chamber functions and events. 
  • Assist other departments and individuals with special projects as the need arises.
  • Perform all other duties which may be assigned by the Vice President Membership & Engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS:           
Previous sales and customer service positions with a minimum of five years’ experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Past experience of meeting sales goals in addition to high level of displayed customer service skills. Self-motivation, a desire for a highly varied work environment, the ability to manage multiple tasks at one time, and a commitment to meeting deadlines required. Individual will display a warm, helpful and friendly disposition; the ability to quickly connect and establish relationships with people; and the ability to read, listen and empathize with a wide variety of people. Strong organizational abilities with excellent math and communication skills preferred. Extensive knowledge of business activity. Computer experience required to include proficiency in the membership database, use of electronic calendar, Microsoft Office and Power Point presentation software.

Manager of Community Advancement

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The person serving in this key role will be responsible for understanding the Community Advancement Director’s vision for success and helping to execute that vision. This will be accomplished via event planning, working with department volunteers and daily data management and administrative tasks, with minimal supervision. Specific duties include:

  • Lead the planning and execution of the Chamber’s City to City trip.
  • Support the Community Advancement Director in planning and executing the Leadership Wichita and Wichita Insight programs and the Wichita Connect initiative.
  • Support the Community Advancement Director and Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee to make advances in the Wichita business community in regard to inclusion and diversity challenges.
  • Perform all other duties which may be assigned by the Community Advancement Director.

QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) required. Three to four years of experience in position(s) with an emphasis in project and event management; some volunteer management experience preferred. The ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including traveling 2-3 days at a time, up to four times per year, are required.

An ideal candidate may be excited by and have strengths in the following: (1) planning complex trips for large groups of people; (2) setting timelines for projects and holding oneself and others accountable to deadlines; (3) researching successful cities and organizations; (4) having a meticulous eye for details in event planning; (5) asking questions to guide others in decision making; (6) communicating with enthusiasm in writing and in person; (7) staying aware of local community issues and how they impact programs; and (8) developing relationships with people in a variety of roles.
