Experience W: Kayak the Keeper

W Young Professionals seeks to highlight opportunities that are unique or special to our Wichita Region through Experience W! 

In partnership with Boats and Bikes, W is offering members the opportunity to grab a kayak, paddle board or pedal boat, for a unique view of our city as we experience the downtown riverfront during sunset and the lighting of the keeper of the plains!

The Keeper of the Plains is a 44-foot tall steel sculpture standing at the point where the Big and Little Arkansas rivers join together in downtown Wichita. This historic and iconic sculpture is located along the river with a unique ring of fire that is displayed in the evening for visitors. If you're new to Wichita or a life-long native, this experience is for you!

Event Timeline

7:00pm- Welcome to Experience W

7:30pm- Kayak the downtown riverfront

8:00pm- Experience sunset along the arkansas river

8:30pm- Lighting of the Keeper of the Plains

9:00pm- Thank you for attending!

W members with a personal kayak, paddle board, or pedal boat are welcome to contact mbrown@wichitachamber.org to RSVP to attend without equipment rental!

Due to the nature of our unique experiences, there will be a limited capacity of participants and tickets available for purchase. 

Attendees of Chamber events agree to allow the Chamber and/or its official photographer to capture their image via photograph, video, or screenshot in the context of the event. Footage captured by the Chamber and/or its official photographer may be posted on social media, shared with media outlets, and/or used in future print and electronic promotional materials.

The Chamber’s policy is to require payment in advance for admission to all Chamber events due to commitments to our vendors. If you cannot attend, we welcome substitutions, so please send an alternate from your company. Unless otherwise stated on registration materials, the deadline to request a refund for an event registration you are unable to attend is two business days before the event. Chamber event reservations not kept, or cancelled less than two (2) business days prior to the event, will not be eligible for a refund, and will be billed if they have not yet been paid. Checks and credit cards are the only accepted methods of payment for this event; no cash, please.
